We are seeking a Lead Technical Instructor to join our professional and dynamic team, playing a key role within our Skills City operation and leading the delivery of our Unreal Engine bootcamp. This role is crucial for our plan to apply for Unreal Academic Partner status, requiring accredited and experienced instructors to ensure quality and effectiveness in education.
With your passion for developing others, you will deliver a defined curriculum program for early career technical hires on their journey to become skilled Game Designers, Game Developers, Game Programmers, Immersive Technologists, Digital Engineers, and similar roles. This multi-modal training program combines instructor-led training, lab exercises, scenario-based project sprints, and more to develop and hone skills in Unreal Engine, 3D Game Development, User Interface design, Game Mechanics, Introduction to game development version control, Artificial Intelligence for game development, and professional development skills.
The instructor will be provided with a curriculum and teaching framework and may also be required to create new resources for the bootcamp as needed. This is a contract role for UK-based candidates, running for 16 weeks and aligning with our cohort start dates. You’ll need to be available Monday to Thursday for 12-14 hours per day, with delivery scheduled from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Compensation ranges from £9,000 to £10,000 for the entire bootcamp, based on your skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Development: Design and implement a comprehensive curriculum covering key aspects of Unreal Engine, including game engines, modular asset creation, real-time lighting, game physics, Blueprints, VR/XR, and more.
- Instruction: Deliver engaging and informative lessons, both theoretical and practical, to a diverse group of students with varying levels of experience.
- Student Support: Provide one-on-one guidance and mentorship to help students with their projects and ensure they understand complex concepts.
- Assessment: Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
- Workshops and Demonstrations: Conduct technical workshops and live demonstrations to reinforce learning and provide hands-on experience.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other instructors and technical specialists to continually improve the course content and delivery.
Additional Responsibilities
- Delivering and supporting all aspects of the defined Unity Game Engine Bootcamp curriculum.
- Have strong knowledge of Unity Game Development including Unity Game engine, Python, .NET, SQL/Databases and AWS Cloud.
- Be able to demonstrate and support application development during a session.
- Ensuring student engagement per program requirements and offering support in Skills City Industry projects.
- Guide and mentor students towards achieving technical expertise and career opportunities.
- Conduct technical mock interviews with the interns.
- Support the Skills City team in timetabling and monitoring student learning progress.
- Administering LMS tasks such as scheduling sessions, managing attendance and uploading session recordings, registering participants and creating/editing instructor resources.
- Evaluate and provide feedback to all learners’ activities and submissions promptly.
- Working closely with the learning strategy team to preserve a consistent program experience for all learners through a defined curriculum, milestones, and interactions.
- Providing content and class feedback to the learning strategy team led by Quality Assurance Manager to drive improvements.
- Be available and respond to all official communication via MS Teams chat, Email, etc. throughout working hours.
- Be passionate about developing talent across all backgrounds to drive up economic and social mobility.
- Be willing to support with other tasks as and when required.
