The role follows a hybrid working model, with regular time required in two regional offices to support collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
The Role
Reporting into a senior finance leader, you will take ownership of all financial and administrative activities relating to service charges for a substantial customer base, alongside associated management company activity. You will ensure service charges are set fairly, accurately, and in line with contractual and regulatory requirements, while driving continuous improvement across systems, data, and processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing a specialist Service Charge team, setting clear direction and fostering a culture of accountability and high performance
- Owning end-to-end service charge setting processes, including the timely production of estimates and actuals, and oversight of internal and external audits
- Designing and maintaining a strong financial control framework aligned with regulatory and industry best practice
- Developing, refining, and embedding organisation-wide service charge policies
- Contributing to medium- and long-term financial and strategic planning, balancing risk and affordability considerations
- Taking ownership of service charge data integrity, working cross-functionally to resolve data quality and access issues
- Producing and analysing service charge reporting to support senior decision-making
- Leading the annual budgeting process for service charge income and the team’s operational costs, ensuring delivery within approved targets
What We’re Looking For
You’ll be an experienced senior manager with a strong background in service charges, ideally from a large-scale, high-volume environment. You’ll also bring:
- Proven experience leading and motivating specialist finance teams across multiple locations
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial matters to non-finance audiences
- In-depth knowledge of service charge regulations, compliance requirements, and best practice
- A track record of delivering operational, cultural, or systems change
- Experience working with external bodies such as auditors, regulators, or technology providers
- Strong governance mindset, with expertise in financial controls and policy development
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to translate data into meaningful insight
