About the Role: My client is a high growth PE backed technology business that is looking for a proactive Management Accountant with strong month-end accounting experience to join the finance team. This role is heavily focused on month-end close processes, data analysis, and project-based accounting. The ideal candidate thrives in a highly manual, spreadsheet-driven environment, enjoys working with data, and has experience with deferred revenue and project accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute month-end close activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
- Prepare and reconcile journal entries, accruals, and prepayments, with a particular focus on deferred revenue.
- Maintain and update project accounting records, including work-in-progress (WIP) tracking and cost allocations for managed service contracts.
- Conduct detailed data analysis to support management reporting, forecasts, and ad-hoc financial requests.
- Develop, maintain, and improve spreadsheet-based processes and checklists to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborate with other finance and operational teams to resolve accounting and project-related queries.
- Support audit processes, providing documentation and explanations for transactions, balances, and reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end reporting packs, dashboards, and presentations for management review.
Essential Skills Experience:
- Proven experience in month-end close processes within a fast-paced environment.
- Strong proficiency with Excel and spreadsheet-based financial analysis.
- Comfort and enjoyment in working with manual accounting processes, checklists, and large datasets.
- Experience in deferred revenue accounting and project accounting, particularly for service-based contracts.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Desirable Skills:
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification preferred.
- Experience with Access Dimensions accounting software or similar ERP systems (training can be provided).
- Familiarity with managed service contracts and work-in-progress accounting methodologies.
