Financial Accountant in Knutsford

Location: Knutsford Hybrid – 3 days onsite

Role Purpose

This role is ideal for a part-qualified or finalist-level accountant (ACCA / CIMA) looking to develop both technical and leadership skills. The organisation has set out a clear progression pathway: starting with core financial and management accounting duties, then gradually taking on management responsibilities, leading a small team, and transitioning into a Finance Manager role in the future. This is a growth-focused opportunity offering structured support, exposure, and mentoring.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements.
• Maintain general ledger accuracy, including journal entries, accruals, and prepayments.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and assist with month-end close.
• Support the year-end audit process by preparing schedules and responding to auditor queries.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
• Assist in producing monthly management accounts and performance reports.
• Prepare variance analysis with clear explanations and insights.
• Support the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes.
• Contribute to financial modelling and scenario planning exercises.
• Monitor KPIs and highlight risks or opportunities.
• Work with operational departments to communicate financial results and support decision‑making.
• Provide financial guidance to non‑finance colleagues.
• Support cost reviews and operational efficiency initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

• Part-qualified or finalist stage with ACCA / CIMA.
• Experience in a financial accounting or management accounting role.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles.
• Strong Excel skills; familiarity with ERP systems advantageous.
• Good analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
