IN2 Consult is supporting an exciting SME client in West London who are looking to appoint a Senior Management Accountant to join their expanding Finance function.
This is a broad and varied opportunity for a qualified finance professional who enjoys being close to the numbers while also having the opportunity to influence the wider business.
The role will have significant exposure to management reporting, financial control, commercial analysis, systems and process improvement , working closely with senior members of the Finance team.
The successful individual will be hands-on and comfortable operating in an environment where priorities can change quickly.
There is plenty of scope to take ownership, improve existing ways of working and become a key member of the Finance function as the business continues to develop.
- What you’ll be responsible for
- Own key elements of the monthly reporting cycle , ensuring financial information is accurate, insightful and delivered within agreed timescales.
- Produce and develop management accounts and performance reporting , highlighting significant movements and providing commentary around business performance.
- Maintain strong balance sheet controls , overseeing reconciliations and investigating unusual or unexpected movements.
- Work alongside the Financial Controller and wider Finance team to understand performance against budget, forecast and historical results .
- Provide financial analysis and insight to help stakeholders understand the key commercial and operational drivers behind the numbers.
- Take ownership of overhead and cost centre reporting , working with budget holders to understand expenditure and identify areas for improvement.
- Oversee intercompany balances and other complex accounting reconciliations , ensuring issues are identified and resolved promptly.
- Play an important role in the year-end process and external audit , preparing information, supporting schedules and responding to auditor queries.
- Apply sound technical accounting knowledge across day-to-day activities, ensuring financial reporting remains consistent with
IFRS and relevant accounting principles .
- Help strengthen the Finance function's controls and processes , identifying weaknesses and implementing practical improvements.
- Get involved in finance systems projects, testing and development , helping the business make better use of its technology and data.
- Look for opportunities to streamline, automate and improve financial processes , reducing manual work and increasing the quality of reporting.
- Develop effective relationships with stakeholders outside Finance, providing commercially focused support and communicating financial information in a straightforward manner.
- Provide guidance and support to more junior members of the team, helping to maintain a collaborative and high-performing Finance environment.
- Explore the use of
AI and emerging technology to improve efficiency, reporting, analysis and problem-solving.
- What we’re looking for
- A qualified accountant
(ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a strong grounding in management accounting and financial reporting.
- Previous experience in a role covering a combination of management accounts, financial control and commercial analysis .
- Someone who is comfortable getting into the detail, investigating discrepancies and taking ownership of resolving issues.
- Strong Excel capability and an interest in finance systems, data and technology .
- A solid understanding of
IFRS and financial reporting principles .
- Commercially aware, with the ability to look beyond the numbers and understand what is driving financial performance.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn financial information into clear and useful recommendations .
- A confident communicator who can explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders without unnecessary jargon.
- Naturally proactive, with a genuine interest in improving processes rather than simply maintaining them .
- Experience of working on systems implementations, automation, process improvement or wider finance transformation would be beneficial.
- Well organised and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and able to constructively challenge where appropriate.
- A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and a practical, solutions-led approach.
- Someone who is curious about
AI and new technology and interested in how these can be applied within Finance.
