An established, large-scale organisation within the property and infrastructure sector is seeking a Senior Fixed Asset Accountant to join its central finance function. The role is primarily hybrid, combining home working with time spent in a modern head office environment in the South East, with occasional travel to a secondary London office if required. The organisation manages a substantial national asset base and plays a key role in long-term investment, development and community-focused projects across multiple regions in England.
This position sits within the capital and financial accounting team and takes ownership of fixed asset accounting across a complex, high-value asset portfolio. Reporting to the Capital Accounting lead and working alongside other experienced accountants, you will be responsible for ensuring robust control, governance and reporting over fixed assets, supporting accurate month-end reporting and statutory compliance. You will have a hands-on role in maintaining and improving fixed asset processes, overseeing additions, disposals and transfers, and ensuring the asset register is complete, accurate and aligned with accounting policies. You will also contribute to policy development and work closely with non-finance stakeholders to embed best practice across the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading fixed asset accounting processes to ensure accurate and timely monthly reporting
- Maintaining and reconciling a large and complex fixed asset register, including component accounting
- Producing monthly analysis and commentary, including depreciation and amortisation forecasting
- Supporting the development and application of capitalisation policies and accounting guidance
- Acting as a subject matter expert on fixed assets, strengthening controls and driving process improvements
- Supporting the preparation of annual statutory accounts and liaising with external auditors
- Delivering fixed asset-related projects to improve efficiency, controls and data quality
- Coordinating balance sheet reconciliations and working closely with the wider financial accounting team
About You
You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong experience in fixed asset or capital accounting, ideally gained within property, housing, infrastructure or another asset-intensive environment. Candidates from large commercial organisations with complex asset registers are also encouraged to apply.
What you’ll bring:

- Strong attention to detail and a high level of numerical accuracy
- The ability to communicate complex financial matters clearly to non-finance stakeholders
- Proven stakeholder management skills across finance and the wider business
