Management Accountant – £50k-£55k – Leyton (full time office based) – Wholesale

My client is currently seeking a proactive and commercially minded Management Accountant to take ownership of daily finance operations and lead month-end reporting within a growing finance function. This is a hands‑on position with team leadership responsibilities, offering the opportunity to shape reporting processes, drive efficiency, and implement improvements across the finance team.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys problem‑solving, and is confident engaging with senior stakeholders. You will bring strong month‑end and reporting experience, a passion for continuous process improvement, and the capability to mentor and develop a small team.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations

  • Manage day‑to‑day accounting tasks including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
  • Monitor cash flow, oversee daily banking activity, and ensure timely payment processing.
  • Maintain ledger accuracy and promptly resolve any discrepancies.

Month‑End & Reporting

  • Lead a structured and efficient month‑end close process.
  • Prepare management accounts, reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Provide clear variance analysis and commentary for internal stakeholders.
  • Produce board and executive reporting packs, including KPI dashboards.
  • Continuously improve reporting processes to enhance speed, accuracy, and insight.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Review, streamline, and document finance processes for scalability and efficiency.
  • Support ERP enhancements and system improvements (experience with IQ by Intact advantageous).
  • Champion automation and best practices across the finance team.

Audit, Controls & Compliance

  • Maintain robust internal controls and audit readiness.
  • Lead preparation and documentation for internal audits.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) data and reporting, collaborating with procurement and logistics.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance team.
  • Provide coaching, structured development, and support accountability.
  • Foster collaboration and a high‑performance culture.

Candidate Requirements

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or finalist).
  • Proven experience in management accounting and month‑end reporting.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff.
  • Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator capable of building strong cross‑team relationships.
  • Self‑motivated with a continuous improvement mindset.
