Management Accountant – £50k-£55k – Leyton (full time office based) – Wholesale
My client is currently seeking a proactive and commercially minded Management Accountant to take ownership of daily finance operations and lead month-end reporting within a growing finance function. This is a hands‑on position with team leadership responsibilities, offering the opportunity to shape reporting processes, drive efficiency, and implement improvements across the finance team.

You will bring strong month‑end and reporting experience, a passion for continuous process improvement, and the capability to mentor and develop a small team.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations
- Manage day‑to‑day accounting tasks including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
- Monitor cash flow, oversee daily banking activity, and ensure timely payment processing.
- Maintain ledger accuracy and promptly resolve any discrepancies.
Month‑End & Reporting
- Lead a structured and efficient month‑end close process.
- Prepare management accounts, reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Provide clear variance analysis and commentary for internal stakeholders.
- Produce board and executive reporting packs, including KPI dashboards.
- Continuously improve reporting processes to enhance speed, accuracy, and insight.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Review, streamline, and document finance processes for scalability and efficiency.
- Support ERP enhancements and system improvements (experience with IQ by Intact advantageous).
- Champion automation and best practices across the finance team.
Audit, Controls & Compliance
- Maintain robust internal controls and audit readiness.
- Lead preparation and documentation for internal audits.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Manage Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) data and reporting, collaborating with procurement and logistics.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance team.
- Provide coaching, structured development, and support accountability.
- Foster collaboration and a high‑performance culture.
Candidate Requirements
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or finalist).
- Proven experience in management accounting and month‑end reporting.
- Experience supervising or mentoring staff.
- Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail.
- Confident communicator capable of building strong cross‑team relationships.
- Self‑motivated with a continuous improvement mindset.
