Job Description
Senior Management Accountant - Beckenham, Kent (Hybrid) - 12 Month Contract (with a view of going permanent) - Up to £65,000
My client is undergoing an exciting period of transformation following an acquisition by a private equity-backed organisation. As the finance function evolves, we are seeking a technically strong and commercially minded Senior Management Accountant to become a key support to the Finance Director.
This is a broad, hands-on role for someone who enjoys improving processes, bringing structure to complex financial information and taking ownership of important finance projects. You will play a central part in professionalising the finance function, strengthening controls and supporting the business through systems and reporting transformation.
The role
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will act as a senior member of the finance team and provide practical support across management accounting, financial control, reporting and transformation initiatives.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and improving management accounts, financial reporting and reconciliations.
- Reviewing balance-sheet positions, resolving historical issues and supporting finance clean-up activity.
- Strengthening financial controls, processes and governance across the function.
- Supporting cash-flow management, working-capital analysis and forecasting.
- Building and maintaining robust Excel models for budgets, forecasts and financial planning.
- Analysing large and complex data sets, turning findings into clear commercial insight.
- Identifying opportunities to automate reporting and improve ways of working, including through Power BI and AI-enabled Excel tools.
- Supporting the planned migration from Xero to NetSuite, including reporting alignment, chart-of-accounts development and data preparation.
- Assisting with the transition towards IFRS reporting across the wider EMEA organisation, including exposure to lease accounting and revenue recognition.
- Supporting audit preparation and responding to reporting requirements in a fast-paced corporate environment.
- Working collaboratively with finance colleagues across the UK, Europe and the Middle East, with potential involvement across a wider EMEA portfolio of entities.
- Helping lead change sensitively within an established finance team, balancing strong delivery standards with a practical, collaborative approach.
About you
You will be a capable, hands-on finance professional who is comfortable moving between detailed accounting work and higher-value improvement projects. You will bring sound technical judgement, strong attention to detail and the confidence to challenge existing processes constructively.
We are looking for:
- A qualified accountant - ideally ACCA or CIMA - with approximately 3 - 5 years’ post-qualified experience.
- Strong technical accounting, reconciliation, reporting and financial-controls experience.
- Advanced Excel skills, including building financial models, budgets, cash-flow forecasts and planning tools.
- Experience using Power BI, reporting automation or other tools to improve finance processes.
- The ability to analyse high volumes of data quickly and translate it into actionable information.
- Experience supporting finance-system change or ERP implementation; NetSuite experience would be advantageous.
- Exposure to IFRS, particularly lease accounting and revenue recognition (IFRS 15 & 16), would be useful.
- A practical, sleeves-rolled-up approach and the resilience to work through ambiguity during a period of change.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the confidence to help drive improvements while working patiently with long-standing team members.
- Availability to start quickly; candidates on a one-month notice period are likely to be best suited.
Big Four or specialist audit experience is not essential.
What’s on offer
- A high-impact role at the centre of a finance transformation.
- Direct exposure to the Finance Director, CEO and wider EMEA finance leadership.
- Broad responsibility spanning technical accounting, controls, systems, reporting and commercial modelling.
- The opportunity to develop into a long-term role within a growing international group.
- Company pension and salary-sacrifice pension arrangements.
- Cycle-to-work and other tax-efficient benefit schemes.
