Location: East Midlands

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Shift Lead (4 On 4 Off Nights & Days) to join a well‑established food manufacturing business within a fast‑paced automated operation. The site supplies major customers and is committed to operational excellence, food safety, and continuous improvement. You will play a key role in leading shift performance, driving efficiency, and ensuring customer demand is met safely and cost‑effectively.

About you…

  • Previous experience at Shift Lead / Shift Manager level within an FMCG or food manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP and quality standards
  • Experience managing people, performance, and time & attendance
  • The confidence to make decisions under pressure and escalation risk appropriately
  • Excellent communication, coaching and leadership skills

What will you be doing?

  • Lead, motivate and coordinate a shift team of up to 20 direct reports across 3 production lines
  • Ensure production plans are achieved through effective labour and line utilisation
  • Monitor performance at regular intervals, addressing efficiency, waste, quality and plan attainment
  • Maintain full compliance with food safety, quality, health & safety and hygiene standards
  • Act as the legally responsible person for food safety on shift
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and coordinate with Engineering and Technical teams
  • Drive continuous improvement, waste reduction and MPS activities
  • Chair cross‑functional shift meetings and manage effective shift handovers
  • Coach, develop and performance‑manage team members, including identifying training needs
  • Ensure accurate record keeping, documentation and reporting
  • Deputise for the Production / Operations Manager when required
