We’re partnering with a leading food manufacturer to recruit a proactive Raw Materials Technical Assistant. In this role, you’ll ensure that all raw materials and packaging arriving on site meet strict quality, safety and specification standards. Acting as a key link between suppliers, production, goods-in and the technical team, you’ll carry out routine inspections, manage non-conformances, and help drive continuous improvement in material quality and supplier performance.
About You
- Experience working within a Food Manufacturing or FMCG facility
- Strong knowledge of food hygiene and raw material handling
- Excellent communication skills – able to work cross-functionally and with external suppliers
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general IT systems
- Ability to prioritise tasks, manage deadlines and work efficiently under pressure
- A proactive mindset, with the drive to investigate issues and support supplier improvement
- Flexibility to work outside normal hours if required
What will you be doing?
- Supporting the quality assurance function through assessing and verifying quality of raw materials and packaging on delivery, in storage, and during production.
- Performing routine inspections, spot checks and scheduled micro sampling
- Leading investigations for raw material-related issues, customer complaints and internal foreign body finds
- Managing non-conforming stock, communicating with suppliers, and ensuring correct hold/reject procedures
- Maintaining raw material documentation, key cards, sampling schedules and risk assessments
- Supporting traceability checks, mass balance exercises and preparation for BRC and third-party audits
- Engaging with production, logistics and supply chain teams to ensure smooth material flow and compliance
