We’re looking for a skilled Cabling Technician to support daily operations across a busy data centre environment. You’ll handle cabling requests, troubleshoot faults, support hardware installations, and keep all documentation accurate using a range of customer platforms. This role requires strong communication, excellent customer service, and the ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced, technical setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Cabling & Technical Support
- Install, test, and decommission structured cabling, including patch panels, patch leads, and cabinet work.
- Perform troubleshooting and Fluke testing, producing certification as required.
- Support hardware installations (servers, switches, cabinets) and assist third-party engineers when needed.
- Complete data centre maintenance tasks such as cabinet, PDU, and containment modifications.
- Administration & Coordination
- Log and update tasks using platforms such as ServiceNow, Office 365, SmartView, and customer portals.
- Raise and manage tickets with co-location providers.
- Maintain accurate patching schedules, stock lists, and site inventory.
- Ensure all work has appropriate client approval and clear communication throughout.
- Site Operations
- Follow all site processes, supplier guidelines, and co-location provider procedures.
- Escort contractors, manage visitor inductions, and ensure compliance with on-site regulations.
- Conduct daily walkarounds, weekly cabinet lock checks, and report any issues promptly.
- Keep all cabinet areas secure, tidy, and compliant.
