Role: Infrastructure Specialist

Location: Derby (Hybrid)

Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 (depending on experience) + Benefits

Our client is on the lookout for an experienced Infrastructure Specialist to join their team in Derby. If you enjoy working across a range of systems, solving problems before they become issues, and getting stuck into both day-to-day operations and longer-term projects, we’d love to hear from you.

This is a hands-on, varied role where you’ll play a key part in maintaining and improving our IT infrastructure — both on-prem and in the cloud.

What you’ll be doing:

• Supporting and maintaining servers, storage, and network infrastructure
• Managing our virtualisation environment (VMware or Hyper-V)
• Looking after Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other core services
• Assisting with cloud infrastructure (mainly Azure, some AWS)
• Monitoring systems, resolving issues, and spotting areas for improvement
• Taking the lead on infrastructure projects and upgrades
• Ensuring security best practices are followed
• Keeping documentation up to date and clear for the wider team

What we’re looking for:

• Solid experience in a similar infrastructure or systems role
• Confident with Windows Server environments and Active Directory
• Good knowledge of networking basics (firewalls, VPNs, TCP/IP etc.)
• Experience working with virtualisation and cloud platforms
• Comfortable juggling project work with daily support needs
• Someone who’s proactive, collaborative, and happy to share ideas
