About Wabash Valley Correctional Facility: Wabash Valley Correctional Facility is a multi‑level security facility located in Carlisle, Indiana, with a capacity of more than 2,200 incarcerated adult males. The facility includes both maximum‑security and minimum‑security housing. Programs support rehabilitation through educational services, treatment, and specialized initiatives. Notable offerings include the Special Needs Acclimation Program (SNAP), which provides tailored support for individuals with unique needs. The facility also contributes to community service projects supporting local organizations. Staff emphasize public safety, responsibility, and opportunities for personal growth.
Salary Statement: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
Role Overview: The Program Director recommends changes in existing programs which may influence total agency operation based on agency policies. You will work independently and possess sufficient technical authority for the work. Your decisions and major recommendations are reviewed for compliance with agency policy and attainment of goals. You will make a substantial contribution to the development and implementation of significant programs.
A Day In The Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows:
- Monitor key performance indicators and program objectives to ensure program effectiveness.
- Assist in developing, updating, and monitoring all policies and procedures related to the program area.
- Interpret and explain policies, rules, regulations, or laws to leadership or customers.
- Implement corrective action plans to solve program problems.
- Answer customer questions about program policies and procedures.
- Act as technical consultant to stakeholders to clarify and interpret policies and procedures.
- Analyze, prepare and disseminate monthly and annual program reports.
- Review the budget to ensure program assets are allocated appropriately, provide budgetary recommendations to improve program area finances.
- Monitor compliance and make recommendations to the program to increase efficiencies.
- Prepare training materials and train agency employees on program requirements and usage.
- Deliver communication plans and communications.
- Serve as a liaison between agency and other state and federal agencies.
- Serve on management committees or other governing boards.
- Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
- Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees.
- Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.
