Key Responsibilities

  • Site Maintenance and Housekeeping
    • Maintain high standards of housekeeping across all workshop areas.
    • Empty waste bins and swarf bins in accordance with company procedures.
    • Remove scrap materials and dispose of waste appropriately.
    • Ensure work areas, stores, compounds and walkways remain clean, organised, and free from hazards.
    • Replace consumables such as towel rolls where required.
    • Carry out litter picking and general yard maintenance activities.
    • Support weed control, tidy and upkeep of external areas.
  • Materials Handling and Logistics
    • Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently.
    • Transport materials, equipment, tools and products between departments.
    • Support stores and warehouse operations.
    • Assist with deliveries, collections and stock movements.
    • Operate forklifts and other authorised equipment in accordance with training and company procedures.
  • Operational Support
    • Assist workshop teams with general labouring activities.
    • Support pickling and passivation operations when required.
    • Assist with workshop projects, assembly activities and facility improvements.
    • Provide practical support during maintenance, installation and repair activities.
    • Escort visitors and contractors around the site when required.
  • Vehicle and Equipment Checks
    • Conduct routine vehicle inspections including tyre, oil, coolant, screen wash, brake fluid, and windscreen wiper levels.
    • Record inspection results and report defects promptly.
  • Environmental and Safety Responsibilities
    • Comply with all company Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.
    • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
    • Maintain safe working practices at all times.
    • Report hazards, accidents, incidents and near misses.
    • Assist in maintaining a clean and environmentally responsible workplace.
    • Support waste segregation and recycling initiatives.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • Ability to undertake manual handling and labouring activities.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to support multiple departments.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Aware of health and safety requirements in an industrial environment.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Forklift Truck (FLT) Licence.
