The role
As an Audit Manager, you will manage audit assignments from planning through to completion, ensuring excellence across all stages of delivery. Working alongside senior managers and directors, you’ll act as a trusted point of contact for clients, oversee day-to-day fieldwork, and guide junior team members to deliver strong results.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage audit engagements, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to firm standards.
- Act as the primary client contact during audits, maintaining strong and clear communication.
- Supervise and mentor junior team members, reviewing work and offering constructive feedback.
- Prepare budgets, monitor progress, and address variances to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Oversee billing activities and ensure engagements remain within budget.
- Ensure full compliance with auditing and accounting standards.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment.
- Work closely with Directors to align on team objectives and ensure consistent service delivery.
- Support administrative and ad hoc tasks to keep assignments running smoothly.
Expertise
- Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CA or equivalent).
- Strong background in audit and accounts, with solid knowledge of regulatory and quality standards.
- Understanding of risk awareness and effective audit controls.
- Excellent client-facing skills with the ability to build strong working relationships.
- Experience supporting and developing junior colleagues.
- Up-to-date knowledge of accounting and auditing standards (e.g., FRS, IFRS).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and propose practical solutions.
This role can be based in Manchester, Liverpool or surrounding areas.
