An established and respected engineering and manufacturing business in East Edinburgh is seeking a commercially focused Finance Manager to support strategic decision-making and drive financial performance. This is a hands-on leadership role reporting directly to the Managing Director, with responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and reporting to shareholders and Non-Executive Directors.
You will lead a small finance team and play a key role in shaping financial strategy, improving systems, and delivering insights that influence operational and commercial decisions.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead monthly management accounts and performance reporting.
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Monitor and control costs across the business.
- Provide financial input into contract costing and pricing.
- Establish and track KPIs aligned with business goals.
- Maintain financial policies and management information systems.
- Present financial performance at monthly board meetings.
- Essential: Proven experience in a senior finance role (e.g., Management Accountant, Finance Manager).
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and reporting capabilities.
- Commercially aware with a proactive approach to cost control.
- Desirable: Experience in engineering, manufacturing, or project-based environments. Transferable skills from accountancy practice will also be considered.
- Familiarity with contract costing and financial systems improvement.
- Competitive salary of £55,000 - £60,000 depending on experience.
