A well-established, medium-sized accountancy practice is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join its growing team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who is actively studying towards a recognised qualification (ACCA, ACA, or equivalent) and is looking to gain practical experience within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
  • Production of VAT returns and management accounts.
  • Perform bookkeeping duties using cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Dext.
  • Liaise with clients to gather records and provide updates on progress.
  • Assist senior team members with ad-hoc tasks and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Continue to develop technical skills and accounting knowledge through hands-on experience and study support.

Candidate Profile

  • Be actively studying towards ACCA, ACA, or equivalent.
  • Have at least 2-3 years' experience in a professional accountancy practice.
  • Possess a solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and basic accounting principles.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in cloud accounting platforms (experience with Xero or QuickBooks is desirable).
  • Be detail-oriented, organised, and capable of managing deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively and work well with both clients and colleagues.
  • Show a proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning and development.
