THE ROLE
This is a senior leadership role where you will shape and execute the financial strategy while ensuring operational efficiency and strong governance. You’ll work closely with the leadership team to support the theatre’s artistic vision, while driving financial sustainability.
- Lead all financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and reporting
- Take ownership of preparing statutory accounts in line with Charity SORP and UK GAAP
- Oversee payroll, grant-funding applications, and theatre tax-relief processes
- Ensure robust financial controls are implemented and maintained across the organisation
- Collaborate with cultural leaders to bring financial expertise into creative decision-making
- Mentor and manage a small finance team, fostering ownership and development
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
We are looking for an experienced finance leader with a passion for the arts and an ability to operate in a creative, dynamic environment.
Mandatory
- Proven leadership experience in senior finance roles
- Expertise in UK GAAP and Charity SORP reporting standards
- Strong skills in budgeting, forecasting, financial controls, and variance analysis
- Experience managing payroll, grant-funding applications, and financial operations
- Ability to translate financial insights into actionable strategies for creative teams
- Availability for 2–3 days per week onsite in Pitlochry during the initial 3–6 months
Preferred
- Experience in the theatre, arts, or not-for-profit sectors
- Background in handling theatre tax relief processes and governance transformations
- Proven ability to build relationships with creative and non-financial stakeholders
- Comfort working in a high-change, entrepreneurial environment
- Recognised accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or relevant experience
