Due to continued investment, growth and a focus on operational performance, a well-established manufacturing business is looking to appoint a Production Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a multi-skilled engineer who enjoys a balance of hands-on maintenance, continuous improvement and project work. The role will play a key part in maintaining production reliability, reducing downtime, improving equipment performance and supporting site-wide engineering initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out reactive maintenance and fault finding across production and site equipment.
  • Deliver PPM activities to maximise equipment reliability.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime and maintain output.
  • Support engineering improvement projects, equipment upgrades and site development.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve machine performance, reliability and efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively to optimise equipment availability and operational performance.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance documentation, records and engineering reports.
  • Support facilities maintenance activities and wider site engineering requirements.
  • Assist with root cause investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality and productivity.
  • Support spare parts management and maintenance planning activities.
  • Ensure all engineering activities are carried out in line with site health and safety requirements.

The Person

  • Multi-skilled Engineering background.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced FMCG, food, beverage, packaging or process manufacturing environment.
  • Recognised Engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding capabilities.
  • Experience maintaining automated production and processing equipment.
  • Good understanding of motors, drives, inverters, sensors, relays, control circuits and industrial automation systems.
  • Experience working with pneumatics, conveyors, material handling systems and production machinery.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and engineering best practice.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety and quality standards.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider engineering team.

Desirable Experience

  • Engineering project delivery experience.
  • Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing or Reliability Engineering experience.
  • Root Cause Analysis methodologies including 5 Whys.
  • Welding and fabrication skills.
  • Spare parts control and inventory management.
  • Electrical regulations qualifications and updates.
  • Experience supporting capital investment and equipment installation projects.
