Our client, a leading independent education organisation, is seeking an experienced Head of HR Support to lead its HR function during a period of transition. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll partner with senior leaders to deliver high-quality HR support, provide expert employee relations advice, and ensure people processes are effective, compliant, and aligned with organisational objectives.

  • Lead the day-to-day HR function, managing and supporting a small HR team.
  • Partner with senior leaders to provide pragmatic HR advice across the full employee lifecycle.
  • Manage complex employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, capability and mediation cases.
  • Produce workforce reports and HR metrics to support strategic decision-making.
  • Support budget planning, headcount management and workforce forecasting alongside Finance.
  • Ensure HR records, contracts and employment documentation remain accurate and compliant.
  • Identify and mitigate people-related risks, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and safeguarding requirements.
  • Embed performance management processes that support employee development and high performance.

You'll work closely with senior leadership, department managers, Finance colleagues and central HR teams to deliver a proactive, solutions-focused HR service.

  • Proven experience leading an HR function in a complex or regulated environment.
  • Strong employee relations expertise with the confidence to manage sensitive and complex cases.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at senior level.
  • Commercial awareness, including workforce planning and budget management.
  • Outstanding communication, coaching and relationship-building skills.
