Quality Inspector
Gloucestershire - Permanent – Full time – Days
Responsibilities
- Carry out inspection activities on raw materials, components, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
- Perform first-off, in-process and final inspections against engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Complete goods‑inward inspections and verify supplier‑provided components meet required standards.
- Conduct dimensional inspections using a range of conventional measuring equipment.
- Support the creation and completion of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and associated documentation.
- Accurately record inspection findings and maintain quality records for traceability and audit purposes.
- Identify non‑conforming products and work with production teams to investigate root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Assist with internal quality audits and support compliance with relevant quality management systems.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve quality concerns and improve product conformity.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by analysing inspection data and identifying opportunities for process enhancement.
- Ensure all inspection equipment is maintained, calibrated and fit for purpose.
- Contribute to the development of inspection procedures, work instructions and quality documentation.
Person
- Previous experience within a Quality Inspection role in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience carrying out first‑off, in‑process and final inspections.
- Knowledge and experience of FAIR creation and quality documentation requirements.
- Competent using a range of measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, height gauges and other precision inspection tools.
- Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), with programming experience advantageous.
- Good understanding of quality systems and inspection processes.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to maintain accurate inspection records.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work closely with production, engineering and quality teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirables
- Experience within precision engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, automotive or similar regulated industries.
- Familiarity with ISO9001 and other recognised quality management systems.
- Internal auditing experience or training.
- Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies.
