About the Role

The Performance Optimisation Manager is responsible for defining and delivering the operational performance strategy across Field Operations, driving sustainable improvements in productivity, customer experience, operational efficiency, workforce utilisation, and commercial outcomes.

Working in partnership with operational leaders, the role provides strategic insight, robust performance governance, and continuous improvement leadership to ensure business objectives are translated into measurable results.

Through data-driven decision making, process optimisation, and organisational influence, the Performance Optimisation Manager will identify opportunities to enhance performance, remove operational barriers, and deliver tangible business value.

The role acts as a catalyst for operational excellence, ensuring that performance frameworks, reporting, and improvement initiatives support the achievement of both short-term operational targets and long-term strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the implementation of the operational performance and optimisation strategy across Field Operations, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and customer expectations.
  • Translate strategic goals into measurable performance frameworks, targets, and improvement programmes that drive operational excellence.
  • Identify and prioritise opportunities to enhance productivity, service delivery, operational effectiveness, workforce performance, and commercial outcomes.
  • Champion a culture of performance ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organisation.
  • Lead the development and continuous enhancement of operational performance reporting, dashboards, and management information.
  • Translate complex operational data into actionable insight, providing strategic recommendations that support business decision-making.

Identify root causes of underperformance through detailed data analysis and performance diagnostics.

  • Maintain strong data governance practices to ensure the integrity, consistency, and reliability of performance information.
  • Lead business-wide continuous improvement initiatives, applying Lean, Six Sigma, operational excellence, and process optimisation methodologies as appropriate.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes, eliminate waste, reduce failure demand, and improve end-to-end service performance.
  • Quantify, monitor, and report the benefits delivered through improvement initiatives, ensuring measurable value is realised.
  • Lead the analysis of workforce productivity, utilisation, capacity, and capability to support strategic workforce planning decisions.
  • What you'll need

Essential

  • Significant experience in operational performance management, business improvement, operational excellence, or transformation environments.
  • Demonstrable experience developing and implementing performance strategies that deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong analytical capability, with experience translating data into strategic insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional improvement programmes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills, including engagement with senior leadership teams.
  • Experience developing performance frameworks, KPIs, dashboards, and governance arrangements.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of operational performance drivers.
  • Experience applying continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent.

Desirable

  • Experience within utilities, field services, engineering, or operational service environments.
  • Formal Lean Six Sigma qualification or equivalent continuous improvement certification.
  • Experience leading large-scale operational transformation or optimisation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of workforce planning, resource optimisation, and field service management practices.
