About the Role
The Contractor Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational management of third-party resource providers, ensuring contractor-delivered services are safe, compliant, cost-effective and aligned with business objectives.
The role acts as the primary interface between IMServ and its contractor partners, driving supplier performance, commercial value and operational excellence. Through effective workforce planning, performance management and stakeholder engagement, the Contractor Manager ensures contractor capacity, capability and quality standards support the successful delivery of field and technical operations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong operational relationships with third-party technical resource providers, ensuring services are delivered in line with contractual commitments, performance expectations and business requirements.
- Act as the primary business contact for contractor partners, providing leadership and direction across day-to-day operational activities.
- Conduct regular performance and governance reviews with suppliers, challenging performance where necessary and driving continuous improvement.
- Work closely with Procurement, Finance and operational stakeholders to ensure contractor management activities are aligned to corporate policies, governance requirements and commercial objectives.
- Establish and manage contractor performance frameworks, ensuring delivery against agreed service levels, key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational objectives.
- Monitor contractor expenditure and resource utilisation against budget, identifying opportunities to improve productivity and cost efficiency.
- Drive value-for-money outcomes through robust performance management, commercial challenge and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead contractor resource planning activities to ensure appropriate levels of capacity and capability are available to meet current and future business demands.
- Ensure contractor-delivered services consistently meet required operational, technical, quality and customer service standards.
- Ensure all contractor-delivered activities comply with applicable regulatory requirements, industry standards, contractual obligations and internal policies.
- Build strong partnerships with Field Services, Planning, Technical Support and wider business teams to ensure contractor services remain aligned to operational needs.
- Lead initiatives that improve contractor performance, operational efficiency and customer outcomes.
What you'll need
Knowledge & Qualifications
- Strong understanding of UK utilities, field services or technical operations environments.
- Proven experience managing third-party or contractor relationships, including commercial negotiation and contract management.
- Sound commercial and financial awareness, with experience managing budgets and demonstrating value for money.
- Ability to translate business requirements into an operational delivery and resourcing plan.
Skills
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to build strong relationships with contractors and internal stakeholders at all levels.
- Good problem-solving skills, able to grasp issues quickly and draw informed conclusions.
- Able to work in a complex environment with conflicting demands, making clear and consistent decisions.

Experience
- Experience managing multiple third-party or contractor relationships within an operational business.
- Experience negotiating commercial terms and managing contract performance.
- Experience working closely with Procurement, Finance and operational teams to align resourcing and budgets
