PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Senior Bid Manager is responsible for leading and managing the end-to-end bid process, ensuring high-quality, compelling proposals that align with the company’s strategic goals. This role requires strong commercial acumen, stakeholder management, and the ability to develop winning bid strategies in both a regulated and non-regulated, data-driven environment.

MAIN ASSIGNMENTS:

  • Bid Management & Strategy: Lead and manage the full bid lifecycle, from qualification to submission, ensuring alignment with company strategy. Develop bid plans, timelines, and resource allocation to meet deadlines. Collaborate with key stakeholders to define win themes, value propositions, and risk mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with internal governance, approval processes, and client requirements. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in bid management processes.
  • Bid Development & Submission: Write, edit, and coordinate bid responses, ensuring clarity, consistency, and compliance with RFP/RFI requirements. Oversee financial modelling and pricing strategies in collaboration with commercial and finance teams. Manage bid reviews, approvals, and signoffs at key stages of the process. Develop high-quality presentation materials and executive summaries for client submissions.
  • Stakeholder & Team Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Product, Finance and Operations teams to gather technical, commercial, and legal inputs for proposals. Build relationships with external partners, suppliers, and subcontractors for collaborative bids where required. Provide leadership and guidance to bid coordinators, writers, and subject matter experts.
  • Governance & Risk Management: Assess and manage commercial, financial, and contractual risks associated with bids. Ensure bids align with company governance policies and risk appetite. Work with Legal teams to negotiate contract terms and conditions where required.
  • Post-Bid Review & Performance Improvement: Conduct reviews to capture lessons learned and improve future bid processes. Track and report on success rates, identifying trends and areas for improvement. Support contract handover and implementation planning for successful bids.

  • Effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to drive bid success.
  • Commercial and contractual risk management and mitigation in bid responses.
  • Driving improvements in bid conversion rates and revenue growth.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Proven Bid Management Experience – Typically 5+ years in bid/proposal management roles.
  • Winning High-Value Bids – Track record of leading and winning complex, multi-million-pound tenders.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration – Experience in working with and influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Managing Multiple Bids – Ability to handle multiple concurrent bids without compromising quality.
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement – Experience liaising with customers, procurement teams, and internal senior management.
  • Continuous Improvement – Involvement in refining bid processes, implementing best practices, and improving win rates.
