IMS is seeking a Psychiatry Nurse Supervisor for its Acute Community Mental Health Service, providing assessment and treatment for adults diagnosed with major depressive and bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, and other psychological disorders. The service also operates a crisis intervention team, which responds to after-hours mental health crises, and features crisis resolution and early intervention care approaches.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring compliance with clinical and operational policies, procedures, and processes for staff providing patient care in the unit
  • Supervise staff including conducting performance appraisals as required
  • Making regular unit rounds to assess patient care and staff, accompanying physicians when appropriate
  • Participating in the process for admissions, discharges, and transfers
  • Collaborate with other Supervisors, Assistant Unit Managers, Managers, and others to resolve issues that cross departmental lines
  • Review occurrences/near miss reports and resolve contributing problems as appropriate
  • Provides coverage support for the Clinical Manager (in an acting capacity) on an as-needed basis
  • Completes any other clinical duties as assigned by the Clinical Manager

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Science Degree Nursing (BSN) or Registered Mental Health (RMN)
  • Post-graduate degree / Advanced Nursing Certification in Mental Health is preferred
  • Minimum of three years supervisory experience in a mental health facility
  • Demonstrated superior communication, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Eligible for registration with Bermuda Nurses Council
