IMS is seeking experienced Psychologists/Addiction Counsellors (full time & casual) to provide individual and group counselling based on the Twelve Core Functions of Addiction Counsellors.
Key responsibilities include:- Conducts initial intake and assessment on clients and collaborates with clients on treatment planning.
- Provides treatment to persons who have substance use disorders and mental health issues.
- Advocates on behalf of clients with partner agencies and refers clients to other services as required.
- Plans and monitors aftercare progress with clients, involving significant others and family members, emphasising the importance of a recovery program, the self-help community, sponsorship, and other community support agencies and resources.
- Liaises with internal and external departments as needed.
- Provides education and training in the area of substance use disorders.
- Manages challenging situations and behaviours.
- Prepares progress reports for various agencies including treatment agencies, the courts, and other referral sources.
- Observes collection of urine samples.
- Facilitates multiple groups and provides individual counselling based on treatment plan.

- Master’s Degree in Counselling, Human Services, Psychology or a similar field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in inpatient/outpatient services for the addicted population.
- Experience working with clients receiving medication assisted treatment.
- Must be eligible for registration with the Allied Health Council and Bermuda Addiction Certification Board as an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ICADC).
- Demonstrated knowledge of various counselling therapies (e.g. Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Trauma Informed Care, etc.).
