Key Responsibilities
- Prepare year‑end financial statements for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Prepare and submit Corporation Tax and Self Assessment tax returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements.
- Manage clients' day‑to‑day accounting activities, including month‑end reconciliations, ledger maintenance, and management reporting.
- Perform supplier statement reconciliations and support accounts payable processes to maintain accurate financial records.
- Prepare, review and submit VAT returns accurately and within statutory deadlines.
- Process weekly and monthly payroll for a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payroll regulations.
- Prepare and file monthly Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) returns.
- Complete and submit annual Confirmation Statements to Companies House on behalf of clients.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
Experience Required
- Around 2‑3 years' experience within a UK accountancy practice (less may be considered for the right candidate).
- AAT qualified is essential.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive team environment.
- Competent in the use of multiple accounting software packages.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and clients simultaneously.
- High attention to detail and a genuine pride in producing accurate work.
- Strong communication skills with a professional and client‑focused approach.
