The Role
We are looking for an experienced Marketing Technology Specialist (Analytics) with a strong background in web technologies, analytics, and digital marketing. This role is about building and managing complex tracking solutions & solving challenging measurement problems. You’ll be hands-on with Tag Management Systems, web/app analytics platforms, consent management tools and ads platforms, ensuring our clients have reliable, privacy-compliant data capture for decision-making.
A strong understanding of JavaScript, HTML and CSS will still be important, but equally critical is your ability to design measurement solutions, integrate marketing platform tracking, and translate business requirements into technical solutions. From configuring advanced GA4 implementations to deploying server-side Google Tag Manager, you’ll be solving real-world marketing measurement challenges across a wide variety of client websites and marketing stacks.
You’ll sit within our Media Solutions team, working closely with our delivery teams to deliver robust MarTech solutions. Over time, this role has the scope to evolve further into experimentation strategy, advanced automation, and thought leadership.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Marketing Technology Specialist at Impression, you will:
– Manage technical marketing platform projects, including website tagging, tracking, and analytics implementations.
– Write, and deploy custom JavaScript snippets for Tag Management Systems (TMS) such as Google Tag Manager.
– Architect and document tracking solutions, including data layer schema design, mapping KPIs to tracking requirements, and producing technical specifications for developers.
– QA and troubleshoot implementations using tools like Chrome DevTools, Tag Assistant, Omnibug, and pixel helper extensions.
– Integrate Consent Management Platforms (CMPs) such as OneTrust, CookieBot or CookieYes with TMS, ensuring tags respect consent choices and advanced Google Consent Mode is correctly configured.
– Share expertise internally through coaching, documentation, and training, as well as externally through marketing efforts including blogs, webinars or public speaking.
Requirements
To be considered for the Senior Marketing Technology Specialist role, you will need to demonstrate:
– Proficiency in JavaScript, with experience building and debugging custom tags, variables, and triggers within Google Tag Manager.
– Familiarity with HTML and CSS for troubleshooting tracking issues.
– Strong understanding of website architecture (eg. Servers, DNS routing, Cookies)
– Hands-on experience with Google Tag Manager (including server-side) and version control/publishing workflows.
– Strong understanding of Google Analytics 4, including event-based measurement, BigQuery export, and data stream configuration.
– Ability to design, configure, and audit tracking architectures and data layers.
– Proficiency with browser developer tools to debug tracking and resolve performance or duplication issues.
– Knowledge of privacy compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA), CMP integrations, and data governance principles.
– Strong communication skills for stakeholder management and technical documentation.
– Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, while proactively learning and adopting new technologies.
