Climax Studios was established over 30 years ago and has a proven track record in developing digital experiences across all formats. We are searching for an on‑site Character Artist based in our brand new, state‑of‑the‑art studio at Lakeside North Harbour on a 130‑acre landscaped grounds in Portsmouth.
Responsibilities
- As a key member of our Character Art team, you will conceptualise, model, and texture characters to create compelling visual stories.
- Your work will support the development of games across multiple platforms and will involve collaborating closely with artists and designers to deliver high‑quality assets that meet production timelines.
Qualifications
- At least two years of experience as a Character Artist in the industry.
- Showcase a portfolio featuring clean geometry, texture, and material work.
- Strong fundamentals: solid topology, UV mapping, and texturing.
- Proficiency in Maya, Zbrush, and Photoshop.
- Experience with Substance Painter.
- Experience with facial blendshapes, wrinkle maps, hair authoring (full strand and hair cards), and MetaHuman.
- Working knowledge of Unreal Engine 4/5 and, beneficially, Marvelous Designer or scan development pipelines.
- Knowledge of anatomy and ability to demonstrate flexibility and a keen eye for form, shape, composition, and fun.
