The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
Basic Function: With direction from the Creative Director, show supervisors, and the department Head, create accurate digital textures from the supplied reference material and/or concept artwork. Liaise with the CG Supervisor on a daily basis for work direction and feedback.
The Role:
- Create photorealistic textures for digital assets using the supplied photographic reference material and/or concept artwork.
- Work closely with the modelling team to ensure UVs are positioned and scaled.
- Work closely with the Lead Generalist to ensure the best result from texture to render.
- Problem-solving material representation for a variety of assets from organic to mechanical, arriving at the best solution for the shot.
- Maintain a high standard of work while being able to meet schedules and set.
- Work with the look development team to resolve technical issues and ensure assets are optimised for render.
- Communicate effectively with the Creative Director, HOD, coordinators, and other leads, keeping them apprised of asset progress, technical issues and recommendations.
- Liaising with the show supervisor and producer on a daily basis regarding progress, schedules, and deadlines.
- Maintain familiarity with core tools, including Mari, Substance and Unreal.
- Take a leading role in implementing an industry-standard best practices pipeline for texture artists at Cinesite based on your industry experience.
We'd like to talk to you if you have:
- Strong creative skills and a thorough understanding of the techniques required to generate texture images using a combination of photographs and digital painting.
- Thorough understanding of the texturing process and the ability to both interpret designs and manipulate photographic reference material.
- Previous experience creating textures for photorealistic organic and hard surface digital.
- Advanced knowledge of Photoshop, Substance, and Mari, a strong working knowledge of Maya and UVs, and a good understanding of Zbrush/Mudbox.
- Experience working in Unreal.
- Experience with Look development, such as working with shading.
- Strong understanding of image colour space relating to texture.
- Thorough understanding of the visual effects.
- Ability to work well in a team and solve texture-specific issues.
- Excellent time management and communication.
- Basic modelling skills would be desired, but not essential.
