A large Local Authority is looking for an experienced Finance Business Partnering Manager to join its senior finance team on an interim basis. The role will lead a team providing finance business partnering support across a complex service area, working closely with senior managers and budget holders to improve financial planning, forecasting and decision-making. You will take a lead role across budget setting, monitoring and forecasting, providing clear financial advice and constructive challenge to senior stakeholders. The post will also support delivery of savings and transformation programmes, ensuring financial implications, risks and opportunities are properly understood and reflected in decision-making.
Key areas of responsibility will include:
- Leading and developing a team of Finance Business Partners and finance professionals
- Providing strategic financial advice and challenge to senior stakeholders
- Overseeing budget setting, monitoring and forecasting across complex service areas
- Supporting savings, transformation and improvement programmes
- Improving the quality of financial reporting, insight and management information
- Strengthening financial governance, accountability and budget ownership
- Working across Finance and operational services to resolve issues and improve financial performance
We are looking for an experienced senior finance professional with a strong track record of finance business partnering within a large and complex organisation. Local government or wider public sector experience would be particularly useful, alongside strong leadership skills and the ability to work credibly with senior stakeholders. This is a hands-on interim role requiring someone who can quickly understand the organisation, support the team and provide clear, practical financial leadership.
