We are looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join the engineering team at a fast-paced, highly automated distribution centre in Hertfordshire.
This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically biased engineer with strong multi-skilled capability who enjoys fault-finding, solving problems and keeping complex automated systems running at peak performance.
Working as part of a busy engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability and availability of a wide range of automated materials-handling equipment.
You will carry out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs, helping to minimise downtime and ensure the distribution operation continues to run safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities for a Maintenance Engineer
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across automated equipment and site systems.
Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns, diagnosing faults and restoring equipment to service.
Fault-find across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and automated systems .
Maintain equipment including conveyors, sortation systems, motors, gearboxes, sensors, drives and automated handling machinery.
Use electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation to diagnose faults.
Identify recurring faults and contribute to root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
Accurately record maintenance activities, faults and parts usage through the CMMS.
Work closely with Operations to maximise equipment availability and minimise disruption.
Support planned engineering projects, upgrades and maintenance shutdowns.
Maintain high standards of health, safety and housekeeping at all times.
Experience and Qualifications required for a Maintenance Engineer
Qualified to Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
Experienced in a maintenance engineering environment, ideally within automation, distribution, logistics, FMCG or manufacturing .
Strong in both electrical and mechanical fault-finding.
