We are looking for an experienced
Mechanically Biased Maintenance Technician
to join our engineering team at a busy distribution centre.
You will play a key role in ensuring that the automated and mechanical handling systems remain safe, reliable and operational, minimising downtime and supporting the smooth running of the site.
Working as part of a Multi-Skilled Engineering Team, you will be responsible for planned preventative maintenance, fault finding and reactive repairs across a range of mechanical equipment and material-handling systems.
Key Responsibilities for a Maintenance Technician Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on site equipment and machinery. Diagnose and repair mechanical faults efficiently to minimise operational downtime. Maintain conveyors, rollers, bearings, chains, belts, gearboxes, motors and associated mechanical systems. Complete inspections and preventative maintenance in accordance with agreed schedules. Respond promptly to breakdowns and equipment failures. Identify recurring faults and recommend improvements to equipment reliability. Work closely with operations and other engineering disciplines to resolve issues. Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with company procedures. Maintain accurate maintenance records and update relevant systems. Support installation, modification and improvement projects when required. Comply with all health and safety, environmental and engineering standards. Experience and Qualifications required for a Maintenance Technician Previous experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or similar role. A recognised engineering qualification, such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent. Experience working with conveyors or automated/material-handling equipment. Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills. Experience with bearings, chains, belts, gearboxes and mechanical drives. Good understanding of planned preventative maintenance. The ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team. A proactive approach to identifying and resolving equipment issues. Good communication and organisational skills. A strong commitment to health and safety. Experience within a
W
arehouse, Logistics, or distribution environment
would be advantageous.
