We are looking for an experienced Mechanically Biased Maintenance Technician to join our engineering team at a busy distribution centre. You will play a key role in ensuring that the automated and mechanical handling systems remain safe, reliable and operational, minimising downtime and supporting the smooth running of the site.
Working as part of a Multi-Skilled Engineering Team, you will be responsible for:
- Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on site equipment and machinery.
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults efficiently to minimise operational downtime.
- Maintaining conveyors, rollers, bearings, chains, belts, gearboxes, motors and associated mechanical systems.
- Completing inspections and preventative maintenance in accordance with agreed schedules.
- Responding promptly to breakdowns and equipment failures.
- Identifying recurring faults and recommending improvements to equipment reliability.
- Working closely with operations and other engineering disciplines to resolve issues.
- Ensuring all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and updating relevant systems.
- Supporting installation, modification and improvement projects when required.
- Complying with all health and safety, environmental and engineering standards.
Experience and Qualifications required:
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or similar role.
- A recognised engineering qualification, such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent.
- Experience working with conveyors or automated/material-handling equipment.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with bearings, chains, belts, gearboxes and mechanical drives.
- Good understanding of planned preventative maintenance.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving equipment issues.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- A strong commitment to health and safety.
- Experience within a Warehouse, Logistics, or distribution environment would be advantageous.
