A well-established firm of Chartered Accountants based in Wilmslow is looking to recruit an experienced Audit Senior. The position would suit an accountancy practice professional with approximately five years’ audit experience who is comfortable managing assignments from planning through to completion. You will work with a varied portfolio of clients, taking responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of audit assignments while supporting and supervising junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing audit assignments from initial planning through to completion
- Leading audit fieldwork at client premises and remotely
- Preparing audit plans and identifying key areas of risk
- Reviewing client accounting records, systems and internal controls
- Completing audit testing and maintaining accurate working papers
- Preparing statutory financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards
- Identifying and resolving technical or audit-related queries
- Liaising directly with clients throughout each assignment
- Supervising, supporting and reviewing the work of junior colleagues
- Providing constructive feedback and on-the-job training
- Reporting audit findings to managers and partners
- Ensuring assignments are completed accurately, efficiently and within agreed deadlines and budgets
- Supporting the wider accounts team when required
Skills and Experience
- Approximately five years’ audit experience gained within a firm of Chartered Accountants or accountancy practice
- Experience managing audits from planning through to completion
- Strong knowledge of UK auditing and accounting standards
- Experience preparing or reviewing statutory accounts
- Confidence leading audit fieldwork and dealing directly with clients
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
- Ability to manage several assignments and competing deadlines
- ACA or ACCA qualified, part-qualified or finalist candidates will be considered
- Experience using accountancy and audit software would be beneficial
