Job overview

The Northwest London Virtual Hospital (NWLVH) is recruiting two experienced band 6 practitioners to provide virtual care and monitoring to acute patients. The team are based at St Charles Hospital in Ladbroke Grove. Patients remain at home & care is delivered over the telephone and digitally. Individuals should have extensive experience as a registered nurse or AHP, although any clinical background is welcome. No IT or remote monitoring experience is required; training will be provided but an aptitude for technology is an advantage. You must be willing & able to speak to patients on the telephone frequently.
The NWLVH undertakes remote monitoring of a variety of patients from across several acute hospitals and community settings. We cover a range of pathways, including cardiology, respiratory, IBD, diabetes, maternity & acute medicine. We have a range of pathways that guide our clinical reviews & work closely with many different MDTs. Virtual wards as a substitute for inpatient care, as well as more proactive remote monitoring pathways are a great opportunity to be part of a move away from traditional models of care, towards a more sustainable future within the NHS.

This is an evolving service, therefore flexibility & a sense of humour are essential. In return, we can offer a flexible and fun working environment, with a flat hierarchy & a commitment to shared decision making.

Please note although there is no face-to-face patient contact, this is NOT a remote working post.

Main duties of the job

  • Conducting telephone assessments
  • Providing clinical and technical advice to patients

The NWLVH is supported by a network of multi professional teams across our acute and community partners, and opportunities will also be available to keep up or develop patient facing clinical skills. There are plenty of bespoke formal and informal training and development opportunities.

We are committed to genuinely flexible working and a variety of shift patterns are possible. The service runs 0800-2000, 7 days a week. Please note, staff are expected to work the majority of shifts from the shared office at St Charles Hospital, this is not a remote working post.
