Job overview

Following promotion of the existing post holder to a national role, we are delighted to announce this exciting position within our leadership group, with responsibility for our education and training teams and a number of our specialist clinical pharmacy teams.

The role will be extremely rewarding and requires an individual who is experienced in working at a strategic level with a range of stakeholders. The post holder will actively contribute to an already dynamic team, to lead and develop the workforce delivery plan to support the development, wellbeing, expertise and impact of our staff across the organisation

Main duties of the job

  • To lead, manage, maintain, plan and co-ordinate all areas of responsibility (Pharmacy Clinical Services, Education & Training Teams for all sites) at Imperial in line with Trust Priorities and Pharmacy strategic objectives.
  • To ensure delivery of high quality services which are patient focussed and consistent across the Trust sites.
  • To ensure services are provided in accordance with current regulations, best practice and legal requirements.
  • To set standards for services, monitor performance, and ensure that services are provided efficiently and in accordance with the needs of users.
  • To develop, train, motivate and encourage staff working within the team and the department as a whole.
  • To support the Pharmacy Leadership team in the development, maintenance and implementation of the annual business plans and service strategies for the department.
  • To act as the Operational Site Lead as required in the absence of the respective Deputy Chief Pharmacist (s) as required.
  • To Deputise for the Deputy Chief Pharmacists, Chief Pharmacist and other members of the Pharmacy executive team at department, trust and external meetings as required.
  • To provide expert clinical pharmacy services, department and ward based in line with Trust procedures, national guidance and government legislation

Person specification

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
  • GPhC registered Pharmacist
  • Mandatory GPHC Professional CPD
  • Higher Degree/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy
  • Post Graduate management / leadership qualification or equivalent experience
  • RPS member

Experience

  • Significant experience of staff management and management experience within clinical/clinical support services
  • Comprehensive experience as a clinical pharmacist practitioner-This must include a solid grounding in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice
  • Demonstrate the ability to appropriately recommend, substantiate and communicate therapeutic options for patients
  • Previous experience in developing and delivering training and education
  • Demonstrable use of clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives to improve practice
  • Previous experience of chairing multidisciplinary meetings
  • Published research

Skills

  • Good ability to organise and prioritise work
  • Ability to influence senior pharmacy and medical staff, the multidisciplinary team and management
  • Ability to think strategically and plan future service developments
  • A good understanding of national and local priorities
  • Ability to engage key stakeholders and negotiate effectively in complex or conflicting situations where barriers often exist
  • Demonstrates awareness of and commitment to the Clinical Governance agenda
