Imperial Recruitment Group are delighted to announce we are working on an exclusive basis with px Group, an organisation at the heart of the UK’s industrial and energy transition, supporting major infrastructure, high-hazard environments, and the next generation of projects across hydrogen, CCS, waste-to-fuels, biomass CHP and international expansion. To appoint a Head of Technical Assurance at their Stockton HQ on a permanent basis.
Salary: Competitive (DOE)

Overview: The primary function of the role is to implement, and continuously improve, a formal, capable and independent px technical and engineering structure. Cover all operational areas, delivering rigorous engineering governance and technical support through supporting systems, processes and procedures.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Contribute to the development, own, deliver and drive the group’s overall technical vision and roadmap for the success of the group.
- Define technical principles for safe compliant operations, project decisions and technology selection decisions.
- Ensure systems and processes are scalable, secure, and maintainable to all assets within the portfolio.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate and in line with contracting strategies.
- Ensure the business structure depicted within the Group Operating Standard is owned, adhered to by all team members and indirect reports on operational and non-operational assets.
- Lead, coach, mentor and develop engineering managers, leads as necessary.
- Establish and implement engineering compliance & best practices.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and performance management.
- Translate business needs into technical strategies.
- Influence strategic decision making.
- Ensure delivery of cross asset technical forums, fostering cross pollination of experience and knowledge sharing.
- Own corporate standardised engineering processes.
- Own and manage technical governance frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, regulation and standards.
- Ensure high quality asset support delivery in line with company operating system.
- Ensure continuous optimisation of engineering and maintenance workflows within the corporate function and dissemination to sites.
- Leverage efficiencies and optimisation within the asset support group for site maintenance.
- Foster a culture of cross asset learning, knowledge sharing and leverage synergies.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Identify opportunities to leverage technology and introduce AI development for competitive advantage and business system evolution.
- Contribute to budgeting and forecasting.
- Ensure development of evergreen resource planning for asset support functions.
- Manage vendor relationships and external technology partners where necessary.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks, providing sound management processes and a logical approach to the management of risk.
- Ensure robust emergency response for engineering functions and site based cyber security, supporting the management of Critical National Infrastructure and annual reporting to DESNZ.
- Contribute to the development and upkeep of business continuity plans.
- Ensure site risks are quantified, adequately risk assessed and mitigated to ensure continued safe reliable operations.
- Responsible for all day-to-day management activities of immediate team, ensuring that your team are engaged and meeting performance targets or tackling issues at the earliest opportunity.
- Lead the completion of all annual performance management activities relating to your team(s), ensuring deadlines are met.
- Challenge and support your management team(s) when performance or behaviours fall below the expected standard to make required improvements.
- Responsible for ensuring team members are technically competent to safely undertake their job roles and display required behavioural competencies.
- Responsible for overall health and wellbeing of team.
To be considered for the role you will have:
- Degree qualified in an engineering discipline, or equivalent.
- In-depth experience of operating within high hazard environments.
- Registered with a professional body.
- Relevant experience in maintaining and managing effective relationships with both internal and external personnel.
- Committed to self-development.
- Undertakes appropriate training & actively seeks out opportunities to put into practice.
- Completed the required company induction into this role.
