Imperial Recruitment Group are delighted to announce that we are working as an exclusive retained partnership with Made for Trade, the UK’s largest and most respected manufacturers of aluminium roof lanterns and bi-folding doors. Due to the launch of their brand-new manufacturing and logistics site in Northampton, we are looking to recruit a QHSE Lead on a permanent basis.

LOCATION: Northampton

SALARY: Competitive

LENGTH OF CONTRACT: Permanent

ROLE SUMMARY: Reporting directly to the QHSE Compliance Manager with a dotted line into the General Manager, the QHSE Lead will take full ownership of Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental performance across the Northampton site. This is a site-based leadership role responsible for ensuring compliance with company standards, legal requirements and ISO frameworks, while supporting operational performance through strong quality and safety practices. The successful candidate will act as the main point of contact for all QHSE matters on site, balancing operational priorities with maintaining company-wide compliance standards.

DUTIES ARE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Ensure compliance with HSE legislation, environmental requirements and company policies.
  • Maintain and enforce the Quality Management System (ISO9001) and support the development of ISO14001 and ISO45001 aligned systems.
  • Act as the lead contact for all QHSE matters across the Northampton site.
  • Ensure audit readiness and compliance across all operational areas.
  • Take responsibility for quality control activities across production operations.
  • Oversee inspection processes, non-conformance investigations and root cause analysis activities.
  • Monitor quality and HSE performance data, identifying trends and implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate calibration, inspection and compliance records.
  • Lead HSE activities including audits, risk assessments, accident investigations and compliance checks.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations including COSHH, LOLER, PUWER, RIDDOR and Legionella.
  • Monitor environmental performance, contractor compliance and waste management activities.
  • Manage and develop the QC team, including workload planning, communication and training support.
  • Deliver QHSE inductions, toolbox talks and ongoing training initiatives.
  • Promote a proactive culture of quality, safety and accountability across the site.
  • Support continuous improvement activities to improve operational performance, reduce waste and minimise defects.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Operations teams to implement process improvements and operational change.

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Strong working knowledge of QHSE within a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience managing or leading Quality and/or HSE functions.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 systems with ISO14001 and ISO45001 experience desirable.
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capability.
  • Ability to influence and challenge at all levels of the business.
  • Computer literate with competent Microsoft Office skills.

ALTHOUGH NOT ESSENTIAL, DESIRABLE:

  • IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualifications.
  • Internal Auditor qualification.
  • Previous experience within ISO auditing environments.
  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering or production-led operations.
