Imperial Recruitment Group are delighted to be working with one of the region’s biggest further education providers to appoint an Assessor- Carpentry & Joinery. They are seeking a motivated and learner-focused Assessor to manage and support a caseload of apprentices through to successful completion of their Apprenticeship Standards and End Point Assessment. The role involves planning and delivering inductions and initial assessments, developing individual learning plans with employers, and providing high-quality information, advice and guidance to ensure timely achievement of SMART learning objectives. You will build and maintain strong relationships with employers and external partners to recruit learners, develop new business opportunities, and support the delivery of apprenticeships and full-cost courses such as NVQs where required. Working collaboratively within the team, you will design and deliver structured schemes of work, review learner progress regularly, meet contractual performance standards, and create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment where learners feel confident, valued and able to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, conduct and participate in induction and initial assessment of learners to identify realistic learning priorities and, in liaison with the employer, develop individual learning plans and agree realistic completion targets. This will include ensuring that employers have a full understanding of the requirement for Apprentices to complete off the job training.
- Develop, manage and maintain good relationships with external partners, local employers and appropriate agencies to recruit learners.
- Provide information, advice and guidance to learners and employers to promote learning and timely achievement of the agreed learning aims and SMART objectives.
- Maintain a minimum caseload of learners. Assist them to achieve the Apprenticeship Standard and prepare them for End Point Assessment.
- Support full cost courses such as NVQs if required.
- Develop business with existing employers and identifying new opportunities.
- Work in a team to plan and deliver a structured scheme of work and develop lesson plans that meet the learning needs of learners and the delivery and assessment of knowledge, skills and behaviours.
- Support the continued evaluation of learning needs and objectives, through regular review and attendance as required at best practice groups.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Level 3 or equivalent in relevant occupational area - Essential
- English and Maths GCSE grade C or above - or equivalent - Desirable.
- TAQA or A1 assessor qualification, or willing to work towards - Desirable.
- Teaching qualification – Desirable.
- Award in Internal Verification or V1 - Desirable.
- Empathy with young people.
- Desire to assist learners achieve their career and learning aspirations.
- High level of self-motivation - ability to work on own initiative.
- Clear proactive approach to planning, organising, prioritising workload.
- Good problem solving / decision making skills.
