Our AV Production Team plays a major role in this, creating atmospheric, thought‑provoking digital experiences that help visitors connect with the stories behind our collections. You’ll join a supportive creative team that values collaboration, innovation and producing high‑quality work that makes a genuine impact.

The Video and Audio Editor sits at the heart of how we communicate history through digital media. From in‑gallery films featuring interviews and archive footage to immersive multi‑screen projections and soundscapes, your work will help shape how millions of visitors experience IWM each year. You will produce video, audio and motion‑based content for temporary exhibitions, permanent galleries and digital signage across all IWM sites. This is a hands‑on creative role where your technical skills, visual storytelling ability and attention to detail directly enhance our audiences' understanding of conflict and its impact.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Editing video content for gallery displays, combining talking‑head interviews, archive footage and B‑roll into compelling short‑form films.
  • Editing and enhancing audio content, including archive oral testimony, ensuring clarity, quality and seamless narrative flow.
  • Creating motion graphics, from titles and lower thirds to more complex animated graphics such as maps and interpretive visuals.
  • Producing high‑quality subtitles for gallery content to support accessibility for all visitors.
  • Working closely with curators, designers, digital teams and project leads to deliver content that meets creative, interpretive and technical requirements.
  • Contributing to the development of AV content for exhibitions and permanent galleries across all IWM branches.
  • Identifying your own development needs and supporting the development of colleagues and volunteers where relevant.
  • Upholding IWM brand, quality, and service standards while managing your workload effectively.

What We’re Looking For

  • A degree in a relevant subject or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience editing video using Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or similar.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating visual storytelling and media production.
  • Experience using image‑making tools such as Photoshop.
  • Experience creating motion graphics using Adobe After Effects or equivalent tools.
  • An understanding of graphic design principles including layout, typography and colour.
  • The ability to manage your workload, prioritise effectively and deliver high‑quality work.

Desirable

  • Experience using HTML, JavaScript or related front‑end web technologies.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Audition or similar audio‑editing software.
  • Experience with 3D tools such as Sketchup, Cinema 4D or Maya.
  • Practical project‑management experience.

How You’ll Work

You’ll collaborate with exhibition and digital teams, curators, AV technicians, and creative partners to deliver content that enhances interpretation and visitor experience. You’ll also work across IWM’s branches, from London to Duxford and Manchester, contributing to a wide range of creative projects and exhibition programmes.
