About The Role
As part of the Preservation Team within the Department of Collections Care, you will:
- Deliver preservation programmes across IWM sites, supporting exhibitions, loans, and gallery projects.
- Implement Integrated Pest Management, environmental monitoring and control, hazard awareness, and emergency planning.
- Provide expert advice on collections care, including risk assessments, environmental analysis, and safe display practices.
- Support specialist projects such as light management and the care of light-sensitive, mixed media collections.
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure best practices in preventive conservation.
What Weβre Looking For
- A qualification in preventive conservation, museum studies, or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of agents of deterioration and preventive conservation principles.
- Experience with environmental monitoring, light recording, and reporting.
- Skilled in analysing environmental data to support decision-making.
- Confident in assessing the condition of mixed media collections.
- Willingness to travel across IWM sites as required.
