Join the team at IWM Duxford as an Apprentice Conservation Technician (Engineering) and play a vital role in helping to conserve and restore the museum’s extensive collection of large industrial objects. Responsibilities

As an Apprentice Conservation Technician (Engineering), you’ll take part in an in-house training programme alongside a formal apprenticeship with an external provider. This will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to begin a career in conservation.

Training Will Include Learning How To

  • Carry out conservation treatments and techniques
  • Use equipment in a way that complies with Health and Safety requirements
  • Research historic objects to ensure accurate and appropriate conservation
  • Accurately record all work carried out on projects

The ideal candidate

Will have a basic understanding of mechanical engineering and either hold a current, valid, clean driving licence, or be in the process of gaining one (a 6-month grace period will be allowed). You’ll be expected to drive museum vehicles as part of the role.
