Imperial Recruitment Group are working with one of North Yorkshire's largest manufacturers who are looking to appoint a Goods in Manager.
Main Purpose:
As Goods-In Manager, you are responsible for all inbound material and equipment streams. Your team performs a vital and time‑critical function for the business; receipting, handling, picking and delivering the right materials in the right place at the right time for production. Reporting directly to the Senior Inventory & Internal Supply Manager, you will be responsible for the leadership and motivation of the Goods-In, Yard and Equipment (Pallet) teams and their associated functions. You will develop and manage your leadership team to deliver industry‑leading levels of performance, accuracy, quality and safety.
Duties:
- Lead the Goods In, Yard and Returnable Equipment (Pallet) teams
- Manage, motivate and be accountable for team performance and standards
- Record, manage and drive KPIs within your areas of responsibility to deliver exceptional colleague performance and accuracy
- Lead Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement projects and drive daily, sustainable performance across the department
- Manage colleagues’ system usage to drive exceptional performance and accuracy in relation to stock movement from the point of receipt, correct placement in storage locations through to consumption
- Take full operational ownership of inbound stock accuracy, integrity and control across all materials and equipment, by working closely with Stock Control team, to deliver industry-leading levels of accuracy.
- In coordination with Procurement, proactively monitor stock levels against production demand and procurement schedules, identifying risks of:
- Stock shortages (risking downtime)
- Excess stock (impacting working capital, space and waste)
- Actively review and challenge procurement plans and delivery schedules, working closely with Procurement, Planning and Finance
- Own stock losses, discrepancies and write-offs:
- Ensure root cause analysis is completed
- Implement corrective actions
- Eliminate repeat issues
- Drive continuous improvement in linefeed, stock accuracy, stock control processes and system integrity
- Ensure strong alignment between Goods In, Stock Control Procurement, Planning and Finance
- Manage delivery scheduling, allowing adequate time to tip, check and put away
- Manage the transfer, call-off and control of componentry in third-party storage locations
- Liaise proactively with Quality Assurance and Procurement teams to improve packaging and pallet formats to minimise damage
- Manage back-loads and the return of damaged or non-conforming components and returnable equipment to suppliers
- Manage recycling and waste streams as required
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years’ warehouse leadership experience in FMCG
- Demonstrated ability to improve performance and control
- Strong organisational, time management and problem-solving skills
- Experience managing inventory and stock accuracy
- Excellent understanding of warehouse health & safety
- IOSH Managing Safely certification (mandatory)
- Excellent understanding of reach truck, counterbalance and pallet truck operation
- Strong systems capability (SAP, WMS, MS Excel, MS Outlook)
- Confident communicator across all levels
