Imperial Recruitment are delighted to be working with a growing and ambitious business based in Newton Aycliffe to recruit a Part Time Accounts Assistant. This is a key role within the business, supporting its continued growth and future plans. This position would suit an experienced payroll/Accounts professional who enjoys autonomy, values flexibility, and wants to play an important part in the success of a developing company.

The Role

  • Reporting directly to the Directors, you will take ownership of the payroll function while working closely with the commercial and operational teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and smooth day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-end payroll processing
  • Verifying and submitting PAYE
  • Managing and submitting CIS returns
  • Processing payments and issuing remittances
  • Payroll reconciliations and reporting
  • Liaising with HMRC and external stakeholders as required
  • Producing payroll reports and updates for Directors
  • Supporting the wider accounts function where needed

About You

  • Proven experience in a payroll-focused role (construction experience desirable but not essential)
  • Strong knowledge of PAYE, CIS, and payroll processes
  • Experience using Xero or similar accounting software
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of your role
  • Confident communicator, able to liaise with senior management
