Our client based in Middlesbrough are looking to recruit an experienced Welding Trainer to work in the adult and community learning division of their educational institution. If you’re looking for secure, long-term work in a reputable education institute and have the relevant experience then this is a great opportunity for you.

Salary: £25,105 - £34,235 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: Middlesbrough

Summary: Join our Adult & Community Learning division as a Welding Trainer, where you will play a key role in designing, delivering and assessing high-quality, industry-focused training programmes for adult learners. Working closely with employers, you will support individuals to develop practical welding and fabrication skills, alongside essential employability and professional behaviours, ensuring they are well equipped to meet current workforce demands.

The role includes managing a caseload of learners, tailoring learning plans to meet both individual and employer needs, and providing ongoing guidance, mentoring and assessment to support progression into employment, upskilling opportunities or further training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality training, including inductions and initial assessments, to identify learner needs and develop tailored learning plans aligned with employer expectations.
  • Deliver, assess and support learning across vocational programmes, ensuring learners develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to meet industry standards.
  • Manage a caseload of learners, providing ongoing guidance, mentoring and progress reviews to support achievement and progression into employment or further training.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employers and external partners to support learner recruitment, programme delivery and workforce development needs.
  • Monitor learner progress and programme performance, ensuring targets for retention, achievement and compliance with funding and quality requirements are met.

Qualifications:

  • Hold a relevant industrial qualification at a minimum Level 3 - Essential.
  • Be prepared to commence an appropriate qualification on appointment to the post.
  • Grade C/4 or above in Maths and English (or equivalent) - Essential.
  • Commitment to undertake any mandatory training relevant to the role.

Experience:

  • Current and relevant experience within your subject area - Essential.
  • Teaching and/or assessing experience - Desirable.
  • Practical occupational experience as required by the Code of Practice and relevant awarding bodies.
  • Experience of working in a commercial and industrial setting.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Excellent technical skills in a relevant vocational area.
  • Suitable level of proficiency in ICT and understanding of its application to teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Excellent communication skills with a wide range of individuals.
  • Team player.
