Imperial Recruitment is delighted to be working in retained partnership with Walker Filtration to appoint a Logistics Engineer. This is a newly-focused role responsible for driving continuous improvement across the end-to-end material flow process - from supplier delivery through goods-in, storage, replenishment, picking, kitting and point-of-use presentation on the shop floor. Reporting to the Planning & Material Logistics Manager, you will work closely with suppliers, procurement, planning, manufacturing, production, quality and warehouse teams to design and implement efficient, sustainable logistics solutions that reduce waste, improve productivity, lower inventory costs and support wider operational excellence across the site. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Material Flow & Warehouse Optimisation * Analyse and improve material flow from suppliers through to point of production consumption * Design and implement efficient warehouse layouts, storage systems and material movement processes * Drive best-practice line feeding, replenishment, picking and kitting methodologies * Reduce non-value-added activity - transportation, waiting time, excess motion and inventory Support warehouse expansion, relocation or reconfiguration projects as required Supplier Packaging & Logistics Development * Work directly with suppliers to improve packaging design, delivery methods and labelling * Develop and roll out returnable and standardised logistics packaging solutions * Improve material presentation to reduce handling, damage, waste and storage requirements Continuous Improvement & Data * Lead and support CI projects using Lean, Six Sigma and structured problem-solving methods * Conduct value stream mapping to identify opportunities across the supply chain and warehouse * Establish and monitor KPIs relating to warehouse performance, productivity and inventory * Analyse performance data, support ERP/WMS improvements, and develop reporting dashboards WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR * 3-5 years' experience in logistics, warehouse, supply chain, manufacturing engineering or a continuous improvement role, within a manufacturing environment * Proven track record of warehouse optimisation, material flow improvement and process redesign * Hands-on experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies - Strong inventory management and material control knowledge, with ERP and/or WMS experience * Working knowledge of Value Stream Mapping, Root Cause Analysis, 5 Why, Fishbone and PDCA * Experience working directly with suppliers on packaging, delivery and material presentation * Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience) desirable; * Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or above desirable * Confident communicator able to influence stakeholders across departments, with a cost-conscious, results-driven mindset WHAT'S ON OFFER * Competitive Salary * 1pm finish every Friday * Free on-site parking * Company pension * Flexible working * Death in Service cover * Employee Assistance Programme, including trained Mental Health First Aiders and an on-demand GP service * EV Car Scheme and Cycle to Work Scheme HOW TO APPLY This vacancy is being handled on a retained basis by Imperial Recruitment on behalf of Walker Filtration.
