Job Description: HGV Driver (Class 1 / Class 2) Location: Huddersfield / Remote Salary: £15.42 per hour (Class 2) / £16.42 per hour (Class 1), plus overtime and overnight allowance Hours: 50 hours per week, Monday to Friday. No weekends or bank holidays. 2 Nights out a week Contract: Permanent, full time About the company Imperial Recruitment Group is recruiting an HGV Driver for a forward-thinking, B Corp certified waste management company. The role You’ll collect and deliver waste materials safely, compliantly and efficiently, and represent the company on the road and on customer sites. You’ll use a handheld device to record job information and pass any sales opportunities you spot on site to the commercial team. Key responsibilities * Comply fully with Driver CPC, drivers’ hours, tachograph and working time rules, and report any potential infringement to the Transport Manager straight away * Carry out daily walk-round checks, report defects promptly and make sure loads are correctly secured and documented * Give excellent customer service and stay professional and courteous with customers, suppliers and the public * Complete collections and deliveries on time with a positive, can-do attitude, and flag issues to the transport team early * Spot sales opportunities on customer sites, such as extra waste streams or collections, and pass them to the commercial team * Use the handheld device to record notes, photos, proof of collection and delivery, and vehicle data in real time * Wear the correct uniform and PPE, and look after company vehicles and equipment * Follow all health and safety policies, risk assessments and safe operating procedures * Keep your licence and qualifications up to date (Driver CPC, ADR, Moffett where required) About you * Valid Class 1 or Class 2 HGV licence with no more than 6 penalty points, plus a digital tachograph card * Valid Driver CPC and a good working knowledge of drivers’ hours and tachograph rules * Proven HGV driving experience, ideally in waste, recycling, skip or bulk haulage * ADR and Moffett qualifications are desirable * Friendly and professional, with a strong customer service focus * Comfortable using a handheld device or app * Reliable, self-motivated and flexible, including overnight stays Benefits * £15.42 per hour (Class 2) / £16.42 per hour (Class 1), based on 50 hours per week (breaks unpaid) * Overtime at 1.5x for hours over 50 per week * No weekend or bank holiday working * £33 per night overnight allowance (sleeper cabs provided) * £300 weekly expenses float (receipts required) * Driver CPC periodic training funded and organised for you * 20 days holiday plus bank holidays, rising by up to 5 days with long service * Employee discount platform covering groceries, travel, fashion and more * Pension scheme * Career development and training opportunities * Paid annual volunteering day * Annual awards and recognition programme * Company social events * Long service and retirement benefits Diversity and inclusion Our client welcomes applications from all backgrounds and is committed to an inclusive workplace where everyone can be themselves
