Imperial Recruitment Group are delighted to announce that we are working in partnership with Waste Management business who are recruiting for a ESG Lead on a permanent basis.
Salary: £35,000 per annum (Negotiable)
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Huddersfield
Hours: Full Time
Job Purpose
As ESG Lead, you will implement the strategies agreed by the Senior Leadership Team across the wider business group to enhance sustainability and meet ESG goals. You will promote engagement within the business to ensure the integration of environmental, social, and governance practices into all aspects of the Company’s operations and decision-making processes and ensure collaborative working across the Waste Experts/WERCS business units.
The role will include training and development of our people, internal stakeholders, external stakeholders, and our processes within the frameworks of our various accreditations, including but not limited to BCorp Certification, EcoVadis, Investors in People, and ISO 9001/14001 and 45001.
Responsibilities:
Sustainability Initiatives
- Execute our sustainability initiatives, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, sustainable sourcing, carbon reduction, and our roadmap to net zero.
- Monitor and report on progress against ESG KPI’s, proposing adjustments as needed.
- Preparation of regular reports and updates, including our annual impact assessment, providing key metrics for use by the commercial teams.
- Highlight ESG-related risks and opportunities that could impact the Company’s reputation, financial performance, and sustainability objectives by carrying out ESG risk assessments and audits across all business units to ensure strategies and standards are implemented and maintained.
Training and Development
- Provide training and awareness sessions to employees on ESG topics, carbon reduction, the impact of climate change, and sustainable practices.
- Create E-Learning for internal and external use around all aspects of ESG.
- Working with the marketing team to create sustainability-driven blogs and marketing posts.
Business support
- Manage and collate information from key stakeholders to provide a materiality assessment for the wider business.
- Support with supply chain compliance queries and general environmental queries from other parts of the business and external stakeholders.
Social-value initiatives
- Management of SSV initiatives, tracking and sourcing volunteering opportunities, and providing support and engagement for volunteers.
- Building relationships with external charity partners to support our wider communities.
Environmental Management
- Ensure compliance with reporting standards and other relevant regulations
- Take responsibility for day-to-day environmental management across the business
What we are looking for:
- Communication – outstanding verbal and written skills with an infectious and enthusiastic personality, a sense of purpose, and a passion for our planet and our people.
- Environmental Knowledge – ideally a qualification in environmental sciences or related subject, or a sound working knowledge of ESG.
- Organised and data-driven – strong organisational skills to manage multiple initiatives, supported by our Business Data Analyst to disseminate information to the wider business.
- Passion – a genuine interest in environmental solutions, sustainability, and social value to drive positive change across not only our business, but the industry as a whole.
- Flexibility – hold a full clean driving license with a willingness to travel to company, customer, supplier sites and events throughout the UK.
Environment, Social, and Governance:
To be part of a culture that focuses on our Environment, reducing energy usage, working to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, with a focus on waste reduction and the eradication of pollution. Working with internal and external stakeholders to support our Environmental and Social Value initiatives.
Sustainability:
Working with suppliers and subcontractors to encourage and support the wider network in achieving industry best practice to allow the achievement of Waste Experts\’ Net Zero goals.
