Reporting to the Environmental Senior Technical Manager
Based in: Wilton (with regular travel to Flex sites)

Position overview:
To deliver the UK Environment Management strategy by ensuring that our activities across all our Flexible generation sites are consistently compliant with environmental regulatory requirements.
The role holder will be responsible for reporting and engagement on all aspects of environmental management.
The role holder will work closely with a range of stakeholders across the organisation. They will report directly to the Environment Senior Technical Manager and have another direct peer in the team. This structure is to ensure that environmental management standards are applied uniformly across UK Operations.
The role holder will ensure that excellent systems, policies, procedures and processes are embedded and operated to a standard which facilitates and assures effective environmental risk management and safeguards regulatory compliance.
The holder will be expected to regularly travel to sites across England and Wales where necessary.
Finally, the role holder will be expected to forge strong and effective relationships with key external stakeholders, specifically the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring that Sembcorp UK is compliant with all environmental regulations applicable to the UK portfolio, by providing SME level direction, both technically and legislatively, through a thorough understanding of environmental legislation and its impact to the business.
- Supporting the Environment Senior Technical Manager to deliver the Environmental Management System Objectives.
- Tracking and prioritising key environmental risks to ensure appropriate business response to emerging trends, relevant legislation and raising awareness of business risks and opportunities.
- Ensuring that regional environmental reporting is comprehensive, accurate and timely.
- Support the delivery of all internal and external reporting and auditing.
- Conduct Environmental Inspections of our sites across England and Wales, with regular travel required (as a minimum twice per month).
- Coaching and educating employees on environmental action, delivering Toolbox Talks to operational teams.
- Support delivery of the carbon reporting for Greenhouse Gas (GHG) UK ETS programmes and MCPD and LCPD obligations and reporting.
- Support environmental event and incident investigations, ensuring that these are appropriately investigated with actions captured and tracked to completion through SEUKs monitoring and reporting processes.
- Experience working with and analysing environmental management system data.
- Strong communication skills, experience building relationships with stakeholders such as internal customers and regulators.
- Experience of working with contractors, consultants, and auditors
- Operational environmental permit experience / knowledge
- Proficient in standard software packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI)
- Full driving licence
- 5 yearsβ experience in an environmental management role, preferably in the energy sector.
- Trained auditor for ISO 14001
- ISEP Practitioner Membership or equivalent environmental industry accreditation
